(Springfield, Mo. – February 13, 2008) Your BBB of Southwest Missouri is warning the community to be cautious when opening E-cards on Valentines Day.
Holidays are a popular time to send E-cards to loved ones, especially on Valentine's Day. However, spam E-mails being sent out have been reported to have a malicious Storm Worm virus attached to them.
The E-mails direct recipients to click on a link to receive their E-cards. Once the user clicks the link, the Storm Worm virus is automatically downloaded and invades their computer.
"The community needs to remember to only open E-mails, attachments and links when they know who the sender is," said Judy Mills, president/CEO of BBB of Southwest Missouri.
If you have received this E-mail or anything similar, you are urged to file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.
